My oldest daughter is 13 and I’ve finally made her a Christmas stocking!! My mother is a beautiful seamstress and I still use the stocking she made for me as a girl. I’ve had stockings on my to do list for a long time for my children. Christmas is a time I love to get creative and make handmade things for my family. Since learning to crochet I’ve wanted to crochet each of my children a keepsake stocking.
The store bought stockings are never big enough for all the goodies Santa brings! It was essential that I design these stockings to be big and bulky with lots of stretch! Secondly they need to work up quick! I have 6 to make so if they take too long I’d get distracted for sure! LOL They only take me about an hour and a half to make, making them a perfect weekend project! Using the Q hook I was able to design the tree skirt to work up in just over 2 hours!! I added my favorite wooden buttons to the back to finish it off.
I fell in love with Patons Iced yarn and was waiting for the right inspiration for it. A shopping trip was all the inspiration I needed to get in the Christmas spirit! The colors and sparkle scream Christmas to me! Combined with Patons Classic wool bulky makes this set luxurious and timeless. Of course this pattern can be used with various yarns and colors to suit your family. Customizing each stocking for each family member makes them something to be treasured for years to come. I hope you will enjoy making your own set! You might have everyone wanting you to make these stockings once they see them!
