Unicorn Ponytail Hat Set

The last week of summer holidays is here and so is our Unicorn Ponytail Hat set! I’m always amazed at how fast summer flies by. With all the back to school prep I was stewing over the perfect winter set for my little Meg. The cold weather always seems to sneak up on us so I’m feeling pretty proud of myself getting this set finished now! I actually have a few sets I’m making her because lets face it, you can never have too many hats and mittens with littles ones!

Meg’s favourite hats have definitely been the messy bun beanies. She loves wearing ponytails and buns! The unicorn ponytail hat is worked around an elastic band. I then attached beautiful chains around the ponytail opening to add some fun colour to this hat! The hat still works great with hair down making it perfectly versatile.

In Bulky MJ style I doubled up a great durable worsted weight. With the many hats I’ve made I find a good acrylic worsted weight will stand up pretty good with kids. Now this unicorn needed to be white so we’ll see how she holds up to my little Farm Girl! If you’re worried make your unicorn in a darker colour. I used Loops & Threads Impeccable in white sold at Michael’s stores. For the colours I used random stash colours that Meg wanted me to use. Some were Sprightly Acrylic and the rest Impeccable. I love a bulky set for warmth and especially how fast they are to work up. I’m sure this ones going to be popular once all Meg’s little school friends see it! I can’t wait to see all the fun and bright colour combinations. The Pattern is available here on RAVELRY and comes in toddler to teen size.
