Michelle Moore is a busy mom of four, loving wife to an Ontario farmer, and the driven creative behind MJ’s Off The Hook Designs.
Like many, Michelle was taught to knit at a young age by her Nan, but it wasn’t until years later that she picked up knitting again. The extent of her skills was no more than the scarves of her childhood, but the desire to build on and expand those skills was strong.
In Fall 2012, her daughter joined a knitting and crocheting club at school, and Michelle’s interest was sparked. She picked up a how-to CD, some yarn and a couple of hooks, and her love affair with crochet began.
Although she is relatively new to the world of crochet design, Michelle is already making waves with her work. Several of her whimsical blanket designs became an overnight Internet sensation with millions of views. This Lead to a feature on Tyra Banks FabLife TV show on how to make thousands off your hobby.
More recently, Michelle developed a love and connection for luxury fibres and sought to share that with others. In March 2017, Sentry Box Designs was born, launched with the goal of offering yarn-lovers a crochet pattern haven of fashionable garments best complimented by those luxury fibres, a way for makers to take a moment and splurge on themselves when they’re so used to creating for others.
Michelle strives to bring inspiration to the crocheting community through her creative pieces, driving the idea that crochet can be trendy, fun and modern.
Michelle has been featured in several magazines, including Interweave Crochet, Crochet!, HomeSpun Australia and Happily Hooked Magazine.
Other big features include Bored Panda, Huffington Post, Good Housekeeping, Country Living, CHEX TV, PTBO Canada and several local papers and blogs for her viral designs.
To keep it real and stay grounded, Michelle loves to run and cycle, spending as much time outdoors as possible. Many of her evenings are spent crocheting on the patio or watching Netflix with her family.
