Crochet cables can be very intimidating, so I’ve shown you how to make the braided crochet cable pattern on my YouTube channel. The entire crochet hat circumference is cabled, making it thick and squishy. All of the crochet cables entwine to create a beautiful, unique crochet hat design.

The Yarn

The braided crochet pattern is made in Wool of the Andes worsted weight yarn from WeCrochet. This classic worsted wool yarn is spun and plied carefully to achieve a wonderfully balanced twist. Spun from Peruvian wool, the strong fibre has an excellent balance of structure, loft, and drape that serves various uses. This sturdy, all-purpose yarn has excellent stitch definition and heirloom durability. It is ideal for cabled sweaters, textured stitch afghans, and everyday accessories. It comes in 100 gorgeous colours!- WeCrochet

The thick double brim keeps your forhead and ears extra warm.

My daughters had a great time modelling this design for me. My oldest Emma, modelled in one of our bean fields just before harvest. I was so sad when my husband combined it. It was such a gorgeous backdrop. I can never take enough photos in Fall.

Over Thanksgiving weekend, we had fun picking our own pumpkins at a local pumpkin farm. It was a great family adventure and cold enough that we needed our hats!

We hauled a wheelbarrow full of pumpkins home, including some cute minis.

Beginner Crochet stitches you’ll need to know before attempting this crochet hat are highlighted below with video links. You’ll also need to know how to do a Front Post double and Front Post Treble Crochet stitch to learn how to make the braided crochet stitch.
