I love Chunky Throw Blankets; since you are here, I’m sure you do as well. I have been needing a decorative throw blanket for a while now. They are great to style on a loveseat, accent chair, footstool, ladder, the end of your bed, and so much more. These blankets are totally in right now; why not make one?

I found this yarn at my local Micheals store a while ago now. I just couldn’t resist it. Since Furls came out with their big hooks, I finally had a project to start!

Bernat Blanket Big is a super soft, thick and warm yarn. Jumbo yarn can be hard to find, so I have provided some substitutes for you. I found a multi-pack of 4 Bernat Big HERE. Cozy Blanket from Loops & Threads is a great affordable option you can find at Michaels. Chenille Home Grand is another great option with a wonderful selection of colours. You could also check out AR Workshop Chunky Knit and I like Big yarn from Lion Brand for this blanket.

Construction

The blanket is worked from the side across to create a vertical stitch pattern. Ch 1 at the beginning of each row is not included as a stitch. Alternate rows of double crochet in the blo with a row of sl sts in the blo to crochet this cozy ribbed throw. Three sizes are included with a YouTube tutorial for size medium (42″ x 52″).

Having trouble unlocking the pattern?


If you’re seeing the message “Email subscription failed, please try again”, don’t worry — it’s usually an easy fix! Here are a few quick things to try:
First, double-check your login details. Make sure you’re signing in with the same email you originally used to create your Grow account. If you’re not sure, click “Forgot Password” to reset your login. Once you’ve updated it, return to my site and try again.
Next, clear your browser’s cache and cookies. Sometimes the login just gets stuck. You can also try opening the page in a private or incognito window, or switching to another browser like Chrome, Safari, or Firefox to see if that does the trick.
It also helps to make sure you’re logged into Grow directly. Visit https://grow.me and sign in there first. Once you’re logged in, come back to my site and refresh the page — your pattern should unlock automatically.
If you’re still having trouble, check your browser’s privacy settings. Grow needs cookies to verify your account, so make sure cookies and cross-site tracking are allowed. On iPhone, go to Settings → Safari → Privacy & Security, then turn off “Prevent Cross-Site Tracking” and “Block All Cookies.” On Android or Chrome, go to Settings → Site Settings → Cookies and select “Allow all cookies.”
Lastly, ad blockers or browser extensions can sometimes block the login pop-up. Try turning them off temporarily while you sign in. If nothing seems to work, log out of Grow completely by going to https://grow.me, selecting your profile icon, and choosing Log Out. Then come back to my site and try logging in again.

Small – 32″ x 42″

Row 1 (RS):

Ch 29, work 1 dc in the 4th ch from the hook and in each ch across, turn—27 sts (including turning ch).

Row 2 (WS):

Ch 1 (not included as a st here and throughout), work 1 sl st in the blo of each st across, work last sl st in the turning ch, turn—27 sts.

Row 3:

Ch 1, work 1 dc in the blo of each st across, turn—27 sts.

Rows 4-15:

Rep row 2 & 3 [6 times]. Fasten off. With fingers, weave in the tails, working through loops in one direction and then weaving back in the opposite direction.
