Meet the Cobblestone Beanie, the perfect companion to our popular Cobblestone Men’s Cardigan. Designed with the same casual, rugged charm, this beanie brings comfort and style to the whole family.

Worked in Mary Maxim Starlette Ragg, the Cobblestone Beanie showcases the yarn’s soft texture and classic marled look, making it a timeless piece for everyday wear. The pattern is beginner-friendly, using simple stitches worked from the top down, and finished with a fold-over ribbed band, personalized tag, and a faux fur pompom for the perfect finishing touch.
With sizes ranging from baby to men’s, this versatile design is a true family favourite. Plus, a step-by-step video tutorial is included for the toddler size to guide you through every stitch.

Brim: 9 sts and 8 rows equal to 2″ in sc blo with 5.5mm hook
Gauge Swatch
Before starting your project, it’s best to make a gauge swatch. This step ensures your tension and stitch count match the pattern’s specifications, which is especially important if the recommended yarn is unavailable or if you’re substituting with another option. Achieving the correct gauge is essential for the proper fit.
You can adjust your crochet hook size, or even switch hook style or brand, to help meet gauge. Keep in mind that not all Worsted Weight #4 yarns are identical—thickness, drape, and softness can vary between brands.
For your swatch, I recommend beginning a baby hat and checking your gauge after a few rounds. Alternatively, you can make a flat swatch: work a foundation row of 12 hdc and continue in hdc rows until you have a square. If you have too many stitches, move up to a larger hook. If you have too few, try a smaller hook. You can also slightly adjust by pulling up on your stitches to lengthen them or tightening your tension to shorten them.
I’ve also included some yarn recommendations that make excellent substitutes.
