How to Crochet The Moss Stitch

In today’s lesson you’ll learn how to crochet the Moss Stitch!  If you haven’t yet learned how to crochet we can get you started with the basics! Go check out our first and second lesson on YouTube.

For my learn to crochet series I will be using Super Bulky weight #6 yarn and a 9mm crochet hook.  You can use any hook and yarn weight. In today’s lesson we use the color Plum Frost.

Written Instructions:

Abbreviations:

Chain – ch

Single Crochet – sc

Sip – Sk

Repeat – Rep

Right Side – RS

Stitch(es) – st (sts)

Wrong Side – WS

[ ] – Work step in brackets number of times indicated

Row 1 (RS): Ch 11, work 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, *ch 1, sk st, work 1 sc in next st; rep from * across, end with 1 sc in last st, turn—10 sts.

Row 2 (WS): Ch 1 (not included as a stitch), work 1 sc in first st,*ch 1, sk st, work 1 sc in next ch 1 sp; rep from * across, end with 1 sc in last st, turn—10 sts.

Rows 3-10: Rep Row 2  [8 times].
