Michaels Collaboration
I was excited to collaborate on a new crochet pattern with Michaels. Locally Michaels is our main craft store, and I’ve been purchasing yarn at their stores for years. I’ve always been a big fan of Loops & Threads.
If you’ve followed along with me, my first published pattern, the Bulky & Quick Mermaid Blanket, was crocheted in Country Loom by Loops & Threads.. It’s no longer available, but it’s near and dear to my heart. A lot of hours and dollars were spent crocheting with that yarn!
When Michaels contacted me, I was thrilled to work on a few projects with them. They allowed me to choose the yarn and a quick giftable pattern. I thought plaid hats are the perfect crochet gift for everyone in your family.
This is a great unisex pattern for men and women with sizing from newborn to large-adult. You can customize the hats to have either a pompom or not. I put pompoms on women’s, girls and boys’ child-size hats but leave them off for men. You can style them however you like.

Impeccable Worsted Weight
Impeccable Worsted Weight is a beautiful, luscious, soft worsted weight yarn made in 100% acrylic. The Tweeds are 97% acrylic and 3% other fibres. Impeccable comes in a beautiful vast selection of colours to fit your style. It’s the perfect yarn for hats, sweaters and shawls.
Loops and threads Impeccable (cdn site) comes in many different options. For the Rustic Buffalo Plaid hat pattern, I recommend using Impeccable solid and impeccable tweed. Impeccable tweed gives your hat that wonderful rustic look; meanwhile, if you use Impeccable solid, you can use the colours Red Hot and Black for that traditional Buffalo plaid look.

Construction
The Plaid hat is worked from the bottom up. You start by working the band first, which is worked in rows and then joined. This plaid pattern is worked around the band in rounds with a reverse slip stitch join. Then the top of the hat is decreased and gathered to close the top of the hat. I provided a step-by-step video tutorial on YouTube in size 6-12mth. When changing colours, work the last yarn over the last stitch with the next colour. Carry the yarn up the seam by crocheting over the tails on the first st. Each size is written out separately. Watch the tutorial here https://youtu.be/2f7owYmeclk
