When it comes to choosing the best yarn for a crochet throw blanket, it’s important to consider how it will impact your stitch definition. Allow me to introduce you to the super affordable and wonderfully soft Mary Maxim Titan Bulky (CDN), which I know is an excellent choice. This yarn is known for its superior quality and is especially delightful after it’s been washed. Substituting Yarn

Yarn substitution is a valuable skill for crocheters, allowing you to achieve your desired results even when the original yarn specified in a pattern is not available. If you would like to substitute the yarn for the Cozy Cottage Cabled Throw pattern, I have included a list of suitable alternatives below.

When substituting yarn, it is crucial to consider factors such as the yarn weight, fibre content, and gauge to ensure that your finished project will have the desired size, texture, and drape.

Remember always to make a gauge swatch using your chosen yarn and adjust your hook size accordingly to match the pattern’s specified gauge. This will ensure that your blanket turns out the correct size.

Although slight variations in size may not be critical for a throw blanket, they can affect the amount of yarn needed.

Feel free to explore different yarn options and unleash your creativity to craft a unique and cozy Cozy Cottage Cabled Throw.

Washing and Care Instructions

The Titan Bulky yarn used in your crochet blanket may initially feel a little stiff. However, washing will significantly soften the yarn and enhance its overall texture.

  • Before washing the blanket, please refer to the yarn label for specific washing instructions. In the case of Titan Bulky yarn, we recommend washing it in warm water at a temperature of 40 degrees Celsius on a normal or gentle cycle.
  • Avoid using bleach or any harsh chemicals that could damage the yarn fibres or alter the colours.
  • Tumble dry the blanket on a normal cycle in the dryer or lay it flat to air dry. If using the dryer, please ensure it is set to a medium or low heat setting to prevent excessive heat exposure.

By following these guidelines, you can maintain the softness and quality of your crochet blanket made from Titan Bulky yarn.
