Tips:

Project Time: Approximately 25-30 minutes per Pouch.

  • Turning your work at the end of each round is essential for this pattern. Working the Winterberry stitch on the wrong side allows the bobbly texture to pop on the right side of the pouch. When turning rounds, placing a stitch marker in the first and last stitch of each round can help make stitch placement easier to see.
  • Count your stitches carefully, especially when turning rounds. It is easy to miss or add stitches if the counts are not checked regularly.
  • Visually check that the Winterberry stitches are offset as you work. Comparing the edges and stitch placement each round helps keep the texture aligned and makes it easier to catch mistakes early.
  • The pouch is started by working around the foundation chain. You will work along one side of the chain, then rotate your work and continue along the opposite side to form a round. When working down the first side, stitches are placed into the back loop of the chain. When working back along the opposite side, stitches are placed into the remaining chain loop. This creates a clean, rounded base for the pouch.
  • Review all stitch abbreviations before beginning. Familiarity with single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, and treble crochet stitches will help ensure a smooth and enjoyable project.
