The Perfect Hat For Fall
With fall approaching, it’s the perfect time to crochet a set of these gorgeous hats for you and your family! They make an excellent market prep item or a thoughtful gift. The fun and playful colours of Mary Maxim Prism (CDN) yarn will ensure these hats are real show-stoppers!
Our experience at Takakkaw Falls in British Columbia was genuinely unforgettable, inspiring the creation of the Takakkaw Falls Toque crochet hat pattern. Standing at an impressive height of 384 meters (1,260 feet), Takakkaw Falls is one of the tallest waterfalls in Canada, making it a breathtaking sight to behold.

The name “Takakkaw” comes from the Cree word meaning “it is magnificent” and perfectly captures the awe-inspiring beauty of this natural wonder.
As we approached the falls, we were treated to stunning views of the surrounding Rocky Mountains. The drive to Takakkaw Falls was an adventure in itself, featuring a winding road that included a nerve-wracking switchback on the mountain’s side.
However, every twist and turn revealed more of the breathtaking landscape, from glistening streams to cascading waterfalls, rocky terrain, and lush, treed landscapes. Each moment spent on this scenic drive heightened our anticipation for what awaited us at the falls.

Takakkaw Falls
Once we arrived, we were mesmerized by the sight of water plummeting down the rocky cliffs, creating a picturesque landscape accentuated by colourful rainbows formed in the mist. It was the perfect inspiration for our Mountainscapes Collection, which aimed to capture the essence of the mountains through vibrant designs.
We chose Prism yarn from Mary Maxim for this collection, as its beautiful colorways complement the stunning hues found in the landscapes of the Mountains.
We hope you enjoy crocheting the Takakkaw Falls Toque as much as we enjoyed our visit to the falls.
