Helpful Project Tips
- Fit first
Wrap the ribbed band around the head before joining to ensure a snug but comfortable fit. - Colour changes
Change colours by completing the final yarn over of the stitch with the new colour. Drop the unused colour and pick it up again on the next round without cutting the yarn. - Turn your work
Turn at the end of each round. The textured stitch pattern is worked on the wrong side so the texture pops on the right side.

Finishing
Using a yarn needle, thread the tail through the flo of each stitch around the top of the hat. Gently pull the yarn to tighten and close the opening. Weave the yarn around the stitches to secure the end, then back in the opposite direction. This will ensure a snug finish and prevent any unravelling.
Pom Pom
Make a yarn pom pom or attach a faux fur pom pom. Sew snap to the top of the hat. Blow-dry pom to fluff and snap to the top of the hat. Use a 5-6″ pom pom for child and adult hats and a 4.3″ pom pom for baby hats. Hats are shown with 1.5″ (large) and 1.125″ (small) square personalized faux leather tags. Attach with embroidery thread.
Washing Instructions
Before washing, remove the pom pom. Always refer to the yarn label for specific washing instructions. It’s recommended to gently hand-wash the hat using a mild detergent or wool wash. Afterwards, carefully lay it flat to dry.
