Back Story

Several years ago, I purchased a pink sweater from Garage that I loved, but the fit wasn’t the greatest (the colour was fantastic).  I wore it while filming several tutorials and was repeatedly asked for the pattern, and I was planning for a long time to make something similar.

Even with all my excitement to make this cardigan, I started it last summer, and it repeatedly was put on the back burner.

I’m happy that it’s finally finished and my new favourite crochet cardigan! I know fingering weight might be intimidating, but give it a try! The waffle stitch is worked in double and front post double crochet stitches, so it works up quickly, and when you have a big project like this, that’s what you want. The stitch is squishy and cozy, but it’s lightweight.

Hook

The Waffle Stitch Cardigan crochet pattern calls for a US F (3.75mm) or size needed to obtain gauge

The Furls Odyssey crochet hook has a large handle so that it makes working with fingering weight yarn a breeze. You can purchase them HERE with code MJS15

When I started this cardigan, I knew a long cardigan in fingering weight would take forever, but it was so worth it! And I’ve included in the pattern how to easily customize it for any length and fit.

I love how this cardigan seamlessly flows together with no arm seams. One thing I’m not a fan of is seaming, and I really hate an arm seam. If you’ve made any of my crochet garment patterns, you’ll know that I like to make them in one or two pieces so that they’re easy to construct.

If you can crochet a blanket, you can crochet this cardigan. It’s worked in only one piece flat so that the only seaming required is the sides and sleeves.
