Mary Maxim Mellowspun
Mary Maxim Mellowspun DK (CDN) is an affordable and soft 100% acrylic yarn. I choose a soft and dreamy palette for this crochet hat. Grey, black, white and taupes are great choices as they’ll go with anything. I added the soft modern pink for the newborn size. Mellowspun has numerous colours to choose from, so you can customize it to your liking.

Mellowspun DK from Mary Maxim (CDN)
#3 Light Weight Yarn, 100% Acrylic, (284 Yards/ 100 Grams)
75 (110, 175, 245, 275)yards
Shown in White, Buff, Black, Dove & Soft Pink
Yarn Substitutes:
Mary Maxim has a few more yarn options that will work perfectly with this pattern. Premier Anti Pilling (CDN) and Bernat Softee Baby (CDN) are very similar yarns. Prism (CDN) is a great option for a pop of colour. Another affordable premium acrylic yarn is Brava Sport from WeCrochet, or if you love merino, splurge on Swish DK.

If you don’t mind playing around with sizing, you can try a worsted-weight yarn. The hats will come out bigger, but it’s worth experimenting with! I used Red Heart Brushed for a soft, fuzzy warm hat.
