The Winter Bliss pompom toque is a fuzzy warm crochet hat with a free video tutorial on YouTube. Herringbone double crochet stitch creates an arrow-like effect, and rounds are turned to create an alternating stitch pattern. The hat construction is worked from the bottom up. Free crochet pattern includes child and adult size.

Crochet Pattern includes 3 sizes child, adult and large adult. Designed in WeCrochet Swish Worsted and Aloft Super Kid Mohair to create a soft fuzzy crochet toque. This is an easy design suitable for crochet beginners and includes a video tutorial in Adult size on our YouTube Channel! Sugar Bush yarns are used for images but this yarn is now discontinued. You will find I wide range of WeCrochet colour options.

8 sts and 7 rows equal to 2″ in sc blo
6.5 sts and 5 rows equal to 2″ in hbdc

Video Tutorial
Construction
The hat is worked by holding together 2 strands of yarn. 1 Strand of Swish and 1 strand of Aloft. The band is worked in rows then seamed to form a headband. Herringbone double crochet is worked in the round around the band. The pattern is written to turn each round so that the diagonal stitch will go in opposite directions. Don’t turn for the diagonal stitch to go in the same direction each round. The pattern is written for the smallest size with larger sizes in parentheses ( ). Turning ch does not count as a stitch. Hbdc – (Herringbone Double Crochet) YO, insert hook in stitch, YO draw up a loop, 3 loops on the hook, sl st through 1st loop, YO draw through next loop, YO draw through 2 loops on hook finishing the stitch

Having trouble unlocking the pattern?
If you’re seeing the message “Email subscription failed, please try again”, don’t worry — it’s usually an easy fix! Here are a few quick things to try:
First, double-check your login details. Make sure you’re signing in with the same email you originally used to create your Grow account. If you’re not sure, click “Forgot Password” to reset your login. Once you’ve updated it, return to my site and try again.
Next, clear your browser’s cache and cookies. Sometimes the login just gets stuck. You can also try opening the page in a private or incognito window, or switching to another browser like Chrome, Safari, or Firefox to see if that does the trick.
It also helps to make sure you’re logged into Grow directly. Visit https://grow.me and sign in there first. Once you’re logged in, come back to my site and refresh the page — your pattern should unlock automatically.
If you’re still having trouble, check your browser’s privacy settings. Grow needs cookies to verify your account, so make sure cookies and cross-site tracking are allowed. On iPhone, go to Settings → Safari → Privacy & Security, then turn off “Prevent Cross-Site Tracking” and “Block All Cookies.” On Android or Chrome, go to Settings → Site Settings → Cookies and select “Allow all cookies.”
Lastly, ad blockers or browser extensions can sometimes block the login pop-up. Try turning them off temporarily while you sign in. If nothing seems to work, log out of Grow completely by going to https://grow.me, selecting your profile icon, and choosing Log Out. Then come back to my site and try logging in again.

Child (Adult, Large Adult)
Band:
Row 1: With larger hook ch 19 (21, 21), work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn—18 (20, 20) sts.
Row 2: Ch 1 (not included as a st here and throughout), work 1 sc in the blo of each st across, turn—18 (20, 20) sts.
Rows 3-52 (56, 58): Rep Row 2. The band should measure without stretch dimensions below. If a larger hat is required increase length.
Sl st band together to form a headband. Keep seam to the outside.

Round 1:
Ch 1, work 1 sc in each sp(row) around, sl st in first sc to join, change to smaller hook—52 (56, 58) sts.
Round 2 (RS):
Ch 2 (not included as a st here and throughout), work 1 hbdc in each st around, sl st in first hbdc to join, turn—52 (56, 58) sts.
Round 3 (WS):
Ch 2, work 1 hbdc in each st around, sl st in the first hbdc to join, turn—52 (56, 58) sts.
Rounds 4-13 (15, 15): Rep Round 3.
Round 14 (16, 16)(RS): Ch 2, sk first st, work 1 hbdc next st, *sk next st, work 1 hbdc next st; rep from * around, sl st in the first hbdc to join, turn—26 (28, 29) sts. Fasten off leaving a long tail.
Finishing:
With yarn needle weave through the front loop only of each st around. Pull the top of the hat closed. Knot and weave ends to secure hat closure. Weave in any other ends and trim.
Pom Pom:
Make a yarn pom pom or attach a faux fur pom pom. Sew snap to the top of the hat. Blow-dry pom to fluff and snap to the top of the hat. Add a garment tag for a personalized touch. Leather rivets are available HERE.
