Project Tips
- This ear warmer is worked flat in long rows, then seamed to form a continuous headband.
- The number of rows determines the width, while the stitch count sets the finished length.
- Offset treble crochet rows create the textured pattern without stacking stitches, adding visual interest with simple stitches.
- Check your work as you go to ensure the treble crochet stitches remain properly offset, as missing stitches can cause the pattern to shift.
- After a few rows, wrap the piece gently around the head to check the fit and ensure the length is on track for the selected size.
- Maintain even tension, especially when working treble crochet stitches, for the cleanest finish.
- When seaming, align the short ends carefully and follow the finishing steps to create the twisted front.
Construction
This ear warmer is worked flat as a rectangle in long rows, then seamed to form a continuous headband. The row count determines the width, while the stitch count sets the finished length. Simple single and treble crochet stitches are used throughout, with offset treble crochet rows creating the textured pattern. Once the desired size is reached, the short ends are joined for a clean, comfortable fit.

Finishing
With the right side facing, hold each end of the headband and fold the ends in half. Position the folded ends together, ensuring the starting tail is inside the layers (left exposed for knotting) and the ending tail is along the outside edge for seaming. Using a yarn needle, seam all four layers together. Knot the tails, weave in ends, and trim excess. For a visual demonstration, refer to the accompanying video.
