Construction
The Chunky Ribbed hat is worked flat in rows from the side across. The ribbing is crocheted by working a row of double crochet in combination with a row of linked slip stitches. Finish with a half double crochet row and slip stitch the ends together. A single crochet in the blo only band is joined as you go to the bottom of the hat. Weave the starting yarn tail to close the top of the hat. A Step-by-step video tutorial is included for adult-size on YouTube. https://youtu.be/nMa557O1VG4
Special Stitches
Stacked Dc – Don’t ch at the beg of a row. Insert hook through the first st and work a sc. Insert hook between the 2 loops of the sc st just made, work a sc st. You have now stacked two sc sts making a stacked dc. This gives the side of your work a clean and straight edge. See the video tutorial for further clarification.
Linked Sl St – Ch 1, 1 sc in the first st, *pick up a loop in the same st, pick up a loop in the next st, pull that loop through the 2 loops on the hook; rep from * across, end with a sc in the last st, turn.
