What Kind of Yarn do you use to Crochet a Skirt?
In my opinion, the optimal yarn for crocheting a skirt would be a lightweight cotton material. Imagine wearing a beautifully crafted crochet skirt on a warm summer day at the beach or in the town.
To ensure maximum comfort, you’ll need a breathable and durable yarn that feels incredibly soft to the touch. For my crochet skirt, I used Comfy Sport from WeCrochet.
Comfy Sport from WeCrochet
Comfy Sport yarn is a unique blend of Pima cotton and acrylic microfiber, offering a breathable, soft, and elastic yarn that is easy to wear and care for. With the added durability of Pima cotton, this yarn is perfect for long-lasting projects that you’ll love for years to come.

To create the Granny Style Skirt, crochet the required number of granny square motifs for your desired size in the round. Seam the squares together using the flat slip stitch join method to form a rectangle, then seam the rectangle to close the skirt.
Add a waistband by crocheting around the top edge of the skirt, working a round of decreases, and finishing with a join-as-you-go ribbed band for a polished and professional look.

Wearing
To prevent stretching out the waistband, we recommend putting on the skirt by slipping it over your head. You could also weave through a tie.
Washing
For best results, machine wash the skirt in cold water and lay it flat to dry. If the waistband has stretched out from wearing, simply adjust it back into its original shape while the skirt is still damp.
