Crochet is fun, hip, and trending this season! Crochet clothes, accessories, and decor are everywhere. A couple of years ago, I designed the Peek-a-Boo cardigan with the same mesh stitch, and it has been one of my best-selling patterns since. My daughters have been wanting a mesh top, so I couldn’t resist designing one!

What To Wear Under A Crochet Mesh Top
- Bralette or Crop Top: A bralette or a crop top can provide coverage while still maintaining a stylish and trendy look. Opt for a lace bralette for a more feminine touch, or a plain crop top for a minimalist approach.
- Tank Top or Camisole: For a bit more coverage, a fitted tank top or camisole works well. This option is great for a casual or semi-casual setting.
- Bandeau: A bandeau provides minimal coverage while keeping the look sleek and sophisticated. It’s perfect for a night out or a festival.
- Bathing Suit: If you’re headed to the beach or a pool party, wearing a swimsuit top under your crochet mesh top can be both practical and stylish.
- Layered Tops: Wear a form-fitting turtleneck or long-sleeve top underneath for a more layered look. This works well for cooler weather or a more modest outfit.
Choose the option that best suits the event, your comfort level, and your personal style!

Best Yarn For A Crochet Mesh Top
For a crochet mesh top, which is perfect for warm summer days, the best yarn to use is light, breathable cotton. My favorite is WeCrochet’s Comfy Line. This yarn is indescribably soft and light—you have to try it to believe it! Made from a blend of Pima cotton and acrylic, it offers both durability and comfort

11 sts and 8 rows equal to 2″ in ribbed pattern blocked with 4mm hook
Guage Swatch
Before starting your project, it is best to create a gauge swatch. This initial step ensures that your tension and stitch count align with the pattern’s specifications. Maintaining the recommended gauge is essential for achieving the desired fit.
Adjusting your crochet hook size can help you reach the pattern’s required gauge, or switching hook style or brand can also help. It’s important to note that not all Sport Weight #2 yarns are identical; variations in thickness, drape, and softness can occur.
For your gauge swatch, I recommend crocheting a 6″ x 6″ square in the stitch pattern. Measure your stitches at the center of the swatch, aiming for 18.5 sts and 9.5 rows equal to 4″ blocked with a 4.5mm hook. If you discover too many stitches, consider switching to a larger hook size.
Conversely, if there are too few stitches, opt for a smaller hook size. The height of the stitch is less critical; you can adjust it by adding or reducing rows as necessary. Additionally, you can lengthen stitches by pulling up on them or shorten them by tightening your tension.

Construction
The Top is worked flat in one piece from the bottom up, starting at the back. To create the sleeves, a chain is worked from each side of the body. The sleeves and body are crocheted as one piece. The neck opening is marked, and the following portion of the sleeve is worked alongside the front V-neck.
Connect the neck and proceed with the front section. Cut the yarn once the sleeve reaches the desired width. The front body is then designated and worked, finishing with the band. For the sleeve cuffs, work them onto the edge of the sleeves. The pattern is written for the smallest size, with larger sizes in parentheses ( ). A step-by-step video tutorial is provided on our YouTube channel.
