The crochet hat
is worked from the bottom up and comes in baby to adult size. This crochet design is unisex and includes a video tutorial for child size. The cabled crochet hat is designed in Knit Picks/ WeCrochet Alpaca Cloud DK. This is a beautifully soft baby alpaca yarn that comes in several stunning colours.

The crochet Braided Fishtail Toque is an intermediate design written in Standard American Terms. Knowledge of basic stitches plus front and back post crochet stitches is required to crochet this hat.
The Braided Fishtail Toque is nice and stretchy with a bit of slouch. Despite being worked in DK weight yarn the post stitches create a thick cozy crochet hat. Made in baby alpaca the hat is extremely soft and luxurious.

To ensure the whole family can have matching hats, the pattern comes in size 3-6 months to adult 23″ head size. That is five sizes in total.

Crochet Cables can be difficult to learn and follow in written format. The YouTube video works through the pattern step by step making the pattern not so scary to attempt.

The child hat fits a 20-21″ head size. Hat is modelled on a 21.5″ head, giving a more fitted look. It’s always a good idea to measure first before picking the size to crochet. Some children have adult-size heads and some adults have child-size heads!
