Crocodile Stitch is worked in multiples of 6 plus 3
Row 1 (Base): Ch 21, work 1 dc in the 3rd ch from the hook, *ch 2, sk next 2 chs, work 2 dc in next ch; rep from * across—7 (2 dc) clusters made.
Row 2 (Scale): Ch 3, working down the dc post, work 4 dc, ch 1, rotate work so that you can work up the other dc post, work 5 dc up dc, *ch 1 and sk next 2 dc cluster, work 5 dc down the first dc of next cluster, ch 1 and rotate, work 5 dc up next dc of same cluster; rep from * across— 4 scales made.
Row 3 (Base): Ch 3, work 1 dc in centre of scale *ch 2, work 2 dc in-between scales (going over ch-1 and in-between 2 dc cluster (Row below), ch 2, work 2 dc in centre of scale; rep from * across—7 (2 dc clusters) made.
Row 4 (Scale): Ch 1, sk first cluster, work 5 dc down the first dc of next cluster, ch 1 and rotate, work 5 dc up next dc of same cluster, *ch 1, sk next cluster, work 5 dc down the first dc of next cluster, ch 1 and rotate, work 5 dc up next dc of same cluster; rep from * across, ch 1, (turn work so that you’re looking at WS, sl st in ch sp, turn— 3 scales made.
Row 5 (Base): Ch 3, work 1 dc in same sp, *ch 2, work 2 dc in centre of scale, ch 2, work 2 dc in-between scales (going over ch-1 and in-between 2 dc cluster (Row below); rep from * across—7 (2 dc clusters) made.
