There’s just something about a classic striped blanket that never goes out of style, and I wanted MJ’s Signature Blanket to feel like one of those pieces you’ll love having in your home year after year.
This design combines simple extended single crochet with colourful striped sections, delicate eyelet details and a beautiful ribbed border. The combination gives the blanket plenty of texture and interest while still keeping the overall look clean and timeless.
I designed my sample using MJ’s Off The Hook Designs Timeless Tones Anti-Pilling DK in Oat Milk with pops of Crimson Spice, Deep Lagoon, Sunflower Fields and Warm Cocoa. I absolutely love these colours together. They have that warm, cozy feel I was looking for while still being bright enough to make the stripes really stand out.
The pattern includes three sizes: Baby, Throw and Large Throw, so you can make anything from a beautiful baby gift to a cozy blanket for your sofa.

MJ’s Signature Blanket
MJ’s Signature Blanket is worked flat from the bottom up, beginning with a simple single crochet back loop ribbed band.
From there, you’ll work the main body of the blanket in extended single crochet. The colour sections are broken up with rows of Oat Milk and a simple eyelet detail that adds just enough texture without taking away from the stripes.
Once the body is complete, the same ribbed edging is added along the remaining sides to give the blanket a beautiful finished look.
The finished blanket has a soft drape with clean, modern lines and plenty of cozy texture.

14.5 sts and 13 rows = 4″ in extended single crochet with a 5.5 mm hook.
Checking your gauge is especially important if you’re substituting yarn. Adjust your hook size as needed to achieve a soft, flexible fabric while keeping your finished blanket close to the listed measurements.

This pattern was designed using Timeless Tones DK Weight #3 yarn

When substituting yarn, look for a DK-weight yarn with a similar yards per gram ratio to achieve comparable results.

Baby (Throw, Large Throw)
The blanket is worked flat, beginning with a ribbed band. The body is worked in extended single crochet and eyelet rows. When changing colours, work the new colour on the last yarn over of the final stitch of a wrong-side row, then continue with the new colour on the following right-side row for a clean, consistent finish throughout. Yarn tails can be crocheted over as you work in one direction; at the end, weave them back in the opposite direction to secure.

Blocking (optional)
Wet block to shape and size. Fill a sink or basin with lukewarm water and add a small amount of wool wash. Submerge the blanket and allow it to soak thoroughly. Gently squeeze out excess water without wringing or twisting. Roll the blanket in a clean towel and press gently to remove additional moisture. Lay flat on blocking mats, shape to the finished measurements, and pin in place as needed. Allow to dry completely before removing the pins.
