King Size Farmhouse Blanket

Bernat Blanket Yarn

I chose a simple textured stitch with an interesting stripe pattern for the king-size farmhouse blanket.  I picked out 4 colours and used a total of  8-300g balls.  Play around with your own favourite colours to match the room.  The selection of Blanket yarn continues to grow, so there are many great choices.

My brother has been asking for a throw blanket for a long time. I thought Christmas would be the perfect time to design a Crochet Throw Blanket Pattern. If you love big warm blankets, you will love to make this free crochet throw blanket pattern!

The background

For those of you new to my page, my husband and I are Farmers.  The original Farm House on our property burnt down, and the home we live in today was built in 1950.  Although it’s not the original farmhouse, it still has many unique farmhouse characteristics with its large pine trim and deep-set windows.

We’ve slowly been renovating our home to capture a modern farmhouse look.  After making the king-size farmhouse blanket, I wanted to keep it for our newly renovated Master Bedroom. But I know my sister-in-law will enjoy it and I can’t keep everything!

Choosing Your Yarn

The Farmhouse King Size Blanket is designed in Bernat Blanket Yarn 100% Polyester for a super soft and cozy throw blanket. If you are unable to obtain this yarn, I would recommend Bernat Softee Chunky as a perfect cheap substitute. Tuff Puff is also a great option if you are looking for a wool option; they have an amazing selection of beautiful colours to choose from. Tuff Puff is a more expensive option, but if you are looking for wool yarn, I highly recommend using it. Lion Brand wool ease is a great substitute if you are looking for a wool/acrylic blend of yarn. Comes in a wonderful selection of colours to choose from. Again, it will be more costly, but the final result of your blanket will be beautiful.
