There’s something about a front door filled with pumpkins and greenery that instantly makes it feel like fall. This crochet pumpkin wreath is one of my favourite ways to use the mini pumpkins from our Easiest Crochet Pumpkin Pattern, and it’s surprisingly simple to put together.
The little crochet pumpkins add the perfect handmade touch, while the greenery and bow give the wreath that full, cozy autumn look. Choose classic pumpkin orange, mix in warm fall colours, or use soft neutrals to coordinate with your home.
Best of all, the pumpkins themselves are incredibly beginner-friendly. If you’ve recently learned how to crochet, this is a beautiful project you can actually make and display.

Each pumpkin starts as a simple rectangle worked in half double crochet through the back loop. Once the rectangle is complete, it’s seamed, stuffed and shaped into a pumpkin.
There’s no complicated crochet shaping involved.
The pattern includes six pumpkin sizes, but for this wreath you’ll want to use the mini size. Make as many as you need to fill your wreath.

We created the Easiest Pumpkin as a project you can move on to after learning your basic crochet stitches. Instead of continuing to make practice swatches, you can practice those same stitches while making something you’re excited to display.
Once you’re comfortable working half double crochet stitches, come back and make your mini pumpkins!
Choosing Colours for Your Pumpkin Wreath
This is where you can really make the wreath your own.
I love mixing several fall colours together for that cozy pumpkin patch look. You could combine orange, cream, brown and green, or keep the entire wreath neutral with shades of cream and beige.
For my pumpkins, I used MJ’s Off The Hook Designs Timeless Tones (CDN). Having coordinating colours makes it easy to mix and match pumpkins while still keeping the finished wreath looking cohesive.
You could also make every pumpkin orange for a more traditional fall wreath.
Supplies for the Crochet Pumpkin Wreath
You’ll need your finished mini crochet pumpkins, a wreath base, wire stems and a decorative bow.
I used a greenery wreath, but you definitely don’t have to use the same style. A grapevine wreath would be beautiful, or you can use another wreath base you already have.
That makes this an easy project to customize using what you have on hand.

How to Attach Crochet Pumpkins to a Wreath
Once your mini pumpkins are finished, decide where you’d like them positioned before attaching anything permanently.
Push a wire stem through the bottom of each pumpkin. Position the pumpkin on the wreath, then wrap and twist the wire around the wreath base until the pumpkin is secure.
Continue adding pumpkins, adjusting the placement and colours as you go.
I like arranging them so they feel slightly clustered rather than perfectly spaced. It gives the wreath a fuller, more natural pumpkin patch look.
Finish the wreath with a decorative bow.
