I made my 3-6 months baby hat pattern in Salt Water and I also made a child-size hat in Mulled wine. I love the marled effect and how soft this hat is to wear. Perfect for babies but also great for the whole family.

The Hooks
I found that my Odyssey crochet hooks from Furls worked really well with this yarn. The weave is very loose and can catch with some hooks especially wooden. The yarn slid with ease with the odyssey hook and the handle prevents my hands from cramping. I spend hours crocheting every day and have found these hooks to be a lifesaver for me.

Hat Sizing
This adorable little chunk is my nephew and I was so excited to make this crochet baby hat pattern for him. He’s 4 months and just fits into the 3-6 month size. He has a large head for his age so make sure to follow my size chart and measure first.
Crochet Hat Size Chart

10 sts and 10 rows equal to 2″ in sc blo with 4mm hook
9 sts and 6 rows equal to 2″ in cable pattern with 4.5mm hook

I was able to squeeze into the child-size crochet hat for modelling but an adult hat would have given me a bit more ease and length (I have a 22″ head size). If you’re an adult with a small head the child-size would be perfect. The band can be folded less or more depending on how you want the hat to fit.
Yarn Alternative
The cabling pattern on the hat matches my Double Espresso Duster Cardigan. The crochet hat would also work up great in Brava Sport that I used to make the Cardigan and it’s a great affordable option! The Cardigan is available HERE.
