Adding a few pillows to an entrance bench adds a cozy feel and makes a nice backrest when putting on your shoes. Make several up in neutral colours or add pops of colour to your decor.
I love adding throw pillows throughout the house. But I especially love crocheted pillow covers. Homemade pieces add extra warmth and love to the home. You’ll find my designs throughout my house. Special Stitches:
Reverse SC – Reverse single crochet stitch is the same as a regular single crochet — except in reverse. Instead of working from right to left, you work from left to right.
CSC – Centre Single Crochet (Waistcoat Stitch) Formed the same way as a standard single crochet. Instead of working the usual way locate the inverted V-shape on the post of the stitch 1 row below. Insert your hook in the centre of that V. Create loose stitches with a large hook to make it easier to insert hook into the V. Watch YouTube tutorial here

Instructions:
Notes: Pillow is worked by making 2 square panels. Three sides are seamed then pillow form is inserted inside. Final side is seamed and edging is finished in reverse single crochet.
Panel:
Make 2
Row 1 (RS): Ch 51, work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn—50 sts.
Note: Keep the sc sts loose so they are easier to work into.
Row 2: Ch 1 (not included as a stitch here and throughout), work 1 csc in each st across to last st, add 1 sc in last st, turn—50 sts.
Row 3-65: Rep Row 2 until piece measures 15.5″ in length—50 sts. After last Row ch 1, evenly work 34 sc sts across the side of panel, work 50 sc sts across bottom of panel, work 34 sts up the side of panel, work 50 sts across top of panel, sl st in first sc to join. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Finishing:
Place pillow panels WS facing. Join yarn to corner with a sl st, ch 1, work 1 sc through stitch of first piece and second piece to join. Continue around working 3 sides together with sc sts. Place pillow form inside case. Work across final side, seaming the pillow case closed. Sl st in first sc to join. Ch 1, reverse sc around entire edge, sl st in first st to join. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Our Rustic Farmhouse Pillow is designed to coordinate with our Rustic Farmhouse Nesting Baskets. Watch the tutorial for our Small Basket on YouTube. This demonstrates the waistcoat stitch crocheted in rounds.
