How to Crochet a Knit Look Rustic Pumpkin. Pumpkin is filled with polyester fibrefill scented with cinnamon. Super Bulky yarn and jute twine is used to create this unique rustic pumpkin. Pumpkin is worked in centre single crochet stitches for a classic knit look stitch.

Our Pumpkin kit includes 1- 3 Balls of Sugar Bush Yarns Chill, 1 cinnamon stick, 1 package of jute twine, and the pdf digital crochet pattern.  Pattern includes 4 sizes.  1 ball makes 3 small pumpkins or 1 medium, 2 balls make a large pumpkin and 3 balls make an extra large pumpkin. Supplies

Yarn Requirements:  

Sugar Bush Chill – 100% Extra Fine Merino (52yds/48m /3.5oz/100g) 

Jute Twine (any brand) 50m package – Dollar store find

Sizes: S (M, L, XL) S size shown in Alabaster M-XL Size shown in Fire in the Sky

Balls Needed: 1 (1, 2, 3)

Yards Needed: 17 (50, 100, 150)                                

Crochet Hook Requirements:

US N/15 (10mm) or size needed to obtain gauge 

Gauge: 

3 sts and 4.5 rows equal to 2″

Additional Supplies:

Yarn needle

Polyester fiberfill

Cinnamon stick

Cinnamon spice

Green Twine for leaf (4mm crochet hook) – Dollar Store find

Finished Measurements:

Medium

Height – 4″

Abbreviations:

Ch – Chain

Csc – Centre Single Crochet

Dc – Double Crochet

Flo – Front Loop Only

Hdc – Half Double Crochet

Rep – Repeat

Sc – Single Crochet

Sk – Skip

Sl St – Slip Stitch

Sp(s) – Space(s)

St(s) – Stitch(es)

Medium Pumpkin (6 section shown)                           

Notes: Pumpkin may divided into 5 or 6 sections.

Round 1: Magic Circle, ch 1, work 10 sc in ring, pull ring tight, sl st in first sc to join—10 sts.                                                          

Round 2: Ch 1, work 2 csc in each st around, sl st in first csc to join—20 sts. 

Round 3: Ch 1, work 1 csc in first st, work 2 csc in next st, * work 1 csc in next st, work 2 csc in next st; rep from * around, sl st in first csc to join—30 sts.                             

Rounds 4-12: Ch 1, work 1 csc in each st around, sl st in first csc to join—30 sts. Last stitch change to twine.     

Rounds 13-16: Ch 1, work 1 csc in each st around, sl st in first csc to join—30 sts.  

Round 17: Ch 1, work 1 csc in first st, sk next st, work 1 csc in next st, sk next st; rep from * around, sl st in first csc to join—15 sts. Fasten off leaving a long tail.

Finishing:                                              

Notes: For a 5 section pumpkin divide total number of stitches by 5.  For a 6 section pumpkin divide by 6. Stuff pumpkin with scented polyester fibrefill (don’t over stuff). With yarn needle weave through the flo of each st around. Place cinnamon stick inside the centre of pumpkin. Pull tail to close pumpkin. Weave end finishing at join. Remove cinnamon stick. 

Weave twine down through join line hiding the yarn. Weave through the magic circle and back up through the top of pumpkin (pull to indent). 5 section pumpkin *Skip over 6 sts, 6 section pumpkin *Skip over 5 sts weave yarn down between sts, weave through the magic circle and back up through the top of pumpkin (pull to indent); rep from * around. Weave in ends and trim. Insert stick through opening. Tie a bow with twine at the base of stick to finish.

Leaf: Use 4mm crochet hook and green twine

Row 1: Ch 7, work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, work 1 sc in next ch, work 1 hdc in next 2 chs, work 1 dc in next 2 chs, ch 3, sl st to ch, (working down the opposite side of chain, ch 3, work 1 dc in first 2 chs, work 1 hdc in next 2 chs, work 1 sc in last 2 chs, sl st in first sc to join.  Fasten off and weave yarn to base of leaf.  Use tails to tie leaf to base of cinnamon stick.
