Meet Timeless Tones DK Yarn
The Timeless Star Stitch Blanket was designed using Timeless Tones DK Weight #3 yarn.
Timeless Tones is our exclusive anti-pilling acrylic yarn created in partnership with Mary Maxim.
What makes it special?
- Soft and luxurious feel
- Beautiful stitch definition
- Lightweight but warm
- Excellent drape
- Machine washable
- Anti-pilling construction
- Perfect for garments, blankets, and baby projects
- Available in a carefully curated collection of timeless colours
The sample shown uses Eucalyptus, one of my favourite shades from the collection. The soft green colour highlights every star stitch beautifully and creates a calming, elegant finished blanket.

The Inspiration Behind This Design
I’ve always loved the star stitch.
It creates a rich texture that looks far more complicated than it actually is, making it one of those stitches that impresses everyone who sees it.
When developing the Timeless Tones collection, I knew I wanted a blanket that showcased the yarn’s softness and stitch definition.
The star stitch was the perfect choice.
The result is a blanket that feels luxurious, looks beautiful in any room, and is very enjoyable to crochet.

About the Star Stitch
The star stitch creates rows of beautiful textured stars that add incredible visual interest to any crochet project.
Although it may look advanced, the stitch becomes very repetitive after the first few rows.

Blocking & Finishing
Once your blanket is complete, take the time to properly finish your work for the best final result. Begin by weaving in all ends securely, ensuring they are hidden within the stitches and trimmed neatly.
For this design, wet blocking is highly recommended to achieve the beautiful drape and smooth finish that makes the star stitch shine.
To wet block:
- Fill a basin or sink with lukewarm water
- Submerge the blanket completely and allow it to soak for 15โ20 minutes, ensuring the fibres are fully saturated
- Gently lift the blanket from the water, supporting its weight, and press out excess water without wringing or twisting
To remove additional moisture:
- Lay the blanket flat on a clean towel
- Roll it up gently and press to absorb excess water
Once damp:
- Lay the blanket flat on a blocking surface or clean dry towels
- Carefully shape to measurements, straightening edges and squaring corners
- Smooth the fabric evenly, paying attention to the border so it lays flat
Allow the blanket to air dry completely before moving or using.
Wet blocking will relax the stitches, even out tension, and enhance the soft, drapey fabric created by the star stitch pattern.
