The Zahara Boho Resort Set is a statement-making crochet skirt and halter top designed for beach days, tropical vacations, summer festivals, and warm-weather adventures.
What makes this crochet set so unique is its construction. The entire outfit is created from just five crochet motifs. Four motifs are joined together to form the skirt, while the fifth motif is turned on the diagonal to create the matching halter top.
The result is an intricate-looking boho crochet outfit created with a surprisingly approachable construction.
With open lacework, adjustable ties, fringe, tassels, and optional bead details, the Zahara has all the relaxed bohemian style you could want in a summer crochet set.

Project Overview
The Zahara Boho Resort Set is a stylish two-piece outfit featuring a coordinating halter top and drawstring skirt made from five crochet motifs. Four motifs are joined to create the skirt, while the fifth is transformed into a flattering halter top with adjustable neck and back ties. Finished with bohemian fringe, this versatile set is perfect for beach vacations, festivals, and warm summer days. The adjustable ties and drawstring waistband provide a comfortable, customizable fit. A full video tutorial is included to guide you through every step of the project.

A Crochet Set Made From Just Five Motifs
The inspiration behind the Zahara was to create a matching crochet outfit that looked detailed and dramatic without requiring complicated garment construction.
Everything begins with one crochet motif.
The motif starts in the centre and grows outward through a combination of solid crochet rounds and open lacework. The final rounds begin shaping the circular motif into a soft square.
For the skirt, four motifs are crocheted and joined together. The first and last motifs are then joined to create a continuous skirt that wraps around the hips.
The fifth motif becomes the top. Instead of complicated bodice shaping, it is simply positioned on the diagonal to create the diamond shaped halter. Crochet ties are added at the top and sides so the fit can be adjusted to your body.
It is one motif used in two completely different ways, which is one of my favourite things about this design.
The Zahara Crochet Skirt
The Zahara skirt combines dramatic lace motifs with a comfortable, adjustable waistband.
After the four skirt motifs are joined, the waistband is crocheted directly around the upper edge. Several decrease rounds shape the waistband toward the waist while still allowing plenty of flexibility in the fit.
An eyelet round is worked near the top for the crochet cord belt. Tassels and optional beads finish the ends of the belt and add another beautiful boho detail.
The waistband is designed to be customizable. If you prefer more room through the waist, you can stop the decreases earlier and work the remaining rounds without additional decreases. The drawstring can then be used to cinch the waistband to your preferred fit.
A simple crochet edging finishes the lower edge of the skirt while allowing the beautiful shape of the motifs to remain the focal point.

The Matching Crochet Halter Top
The matching halter might be the simplest part of the entire set.
One finished motif is turned on the diagonal to create the top.
I Cord ties are crocheted directly onto the motif, with two ties at the top for the neck and one tie on each side. This makes the halter highly adjustable and lets you customize the placement and fit.
Decorative beads can be added to the ends of the ties for an elevated finish.
The lower two sides of the motif are finished with generous crochet fringe. I left the fringe intentionally untrimmed to give the top a relaxed, organic bohemian look.
Lightly steaming the fringe helps the strands relax and hang beautifully while still maintaining that carefree finish.
Adjustable Fit
The Zahara is designed with flexibility in mind.
Choose your size primarily according to your hip measurement, since this determines the fit of the skirt. If you fall between sizes, consider how you would like your skirt to fit. The smaller size will give you a more fitted silhouette, while the larger size will provide additional ease and a more relaxed fit.
The drawstring waistband provides additional adjustment at the waist.
The halter top is also adjustable through the neck and side ties. If you would like additional coverage through the bust, the PDF includes instructions for adding additional rounds to increase the finished top motif.
Zahara Boho Resort Set Sizes
The pattern includes four grouped sizes:
XS: To fit 31 to 33″ hips
S/M: To fit 34 to 38″ hips
L/XL: To fit 39 to 45″ hips
2X: To fit 46 to 48″ hips
The open lacework provides flexibility and drape, while the adjustable waistband allows you to customize the waist independently of the hip fit.

Yarn for the Zahara Boho Resort Set
I made the Zahara using two beautiful cotton yarn options.
Katia Fair Cotton (CDN)
Katia Fair Cotton is a lightweight 100% organic cotton yarn with approximately 170 yards per 50 g ball.
Its smooth texture gives the lace stitches excellent definition while creating a soft, breathable fabric that works beautifully for summer garments.
Willow Yarns Farmhouse Cotton
Willow Yarns Farmhouse Cotton is another beautiful option. Although labelled as a DK weight yarn, it has a similar weight and yardage ratio and works beautifully for this design.
It contains 360 yards per 100 g ball and is made from 100% cotton.
Always check your motif measurements before beginning the remaining motifs when substituting yarn.
Sport Weight #2, 170 yds/155 m/50 g/1.75 oz, 100% Organic Cotton. Shown in size Medium in White (1)
Approximate Yarn Requirements
XS: 575 yards
Approximately 4 balls of Katia Fair Cotton or 2 balls of Willow Yarns Farmhouse Cotton.
S/M: 615 yards
Approximately 4 balls of Katia Fair Cotton or 2 balls of Willow Yarns Farmhouse Cotton.

L/XL: 700 yards
Approximately 5 balls of Katia Fair Cotton or 2 balls of Willow Yarns Farmhouse Cotton.
2X: 775 yards
Approximately 5 balls of Katia Fair Cotton or 3 balls of Willow Yarns Farmhouse Cotton.
Yarn quantities are approximate and include an allowance for the drawstring, ties, fringe, tassels, and finishing. Yardage can vary depending on your tension, blocking, and any modifications you make.
When in doubt, I recommend purchasing an extra ball.
Crochet Hooks and Supplies
You will need:
Use the hook size necessary to achieve the finished motif measurements if your personal tension differs.
Gauge
For this pattern, the motif itself is your gauge swatch.
Rather than making a separate traditional gauge swatch, crochet your first motif using the hook and final round specified for your size. Block the motif before measuring.
Your blocked motif should measure approximately:
Round 11 with 3.5 mm hook: 9.5″
Round 11 with 4 mm hook: 10″
Round 12: 11″
Round 13: 12″
If your motif is smaller than the required measurement, try a larger hook. If it is larger, try a smaller hook.
Once your first motif matches the required measurement, you can continue crocheting the remaining motifs

Styling Your Zahara Boho Resort Set
One of the best things about a matching crochet set is how many ways you can wear it.
Wear the skirt and top together for the complete boho resort look, or separate the pieces and style them individually.
Pair the halter with denim shorts or a flowing maxi skirt. Wear the crochet skirt over a swimsuit as a beach cover-up. Add sandals and a sun hat for vacation, or boots and layered jewelry for a festival-inspired outfit.
The neutral version gives the set an earthy, elevated look, while brighter cotton colours could completely transform the design into a playful summer statement piece.

Crochet Your Own Zahara Boho Resort Set
The Zahara combines everything I love about summer crochet: beautiful cotton yarn, dramatic lacework, adjustable details, fringe, tassels, and a construction that is much simpler than the finished garment suggests.
Five motifs become an entire matching outfit.
Whether you’re crocheting it for a tropical vacation, a beach day, a summer festival, or simply because you love statement crochet clothing, the Zahara is one of those projects that is just as much fun to make as it is to wear. I hope you love the pattern as much as I did designing it!
